Should You Book A Stay At Capella Sydney: Do You Get What You Pay For?

Book A Stay At Capella Sydney And This Is The Check-In Experience

As soon as I uncovered the news of Capella Sydney's opening in Circular Quay, after a 7-year building restoration I could not wait to check it out. I recently visited Sydney CBD to take a look for myself. It is sophisticated and luxurious with a price point to match. Do you get what you pay for? Should you book a stay? Yes, and Yes.

Capella Sydney left me feeling excited to stay in this incredible hotel. It’s been almost a year since the doors opened back on a hot Wednesday the 15th of March 2023, and has impressed me from the get-go.

“It’s all in the details. The little things paint the big picture. I felt as soon as I walked in, Capella would not associate itself with disappointment. Incredible place to stay in Sydney”

I love experiencing new hotels so when I was last in Sydney city I made sure to make my way to Capella Sydney and see it with my own eyes. You might think that great hotels and good hospitality go hand in hand. They should, but in practice, this doesn’t always translate to a guest’s reality. After personally welcoming guests to luxury hotels for years, I have a huge importance placed on first impressions and how welcome the staff of a hotel makes you feel from the moment you arrive.

My experience walking into Capella Sydney for the first time was one met with awe coupled with friendly and approachable staff that greeted me at the Farrer Place entrance. That paired with a lobby that won Hotel Lobby of the Year 2023 in the AHEAD Asia Awards confirmed my suspicions that this hotel is one of Sydney’s finest. Just the sandstone building humbly yet grandly standing amongst modern giants is a beautiful contrast.

“A sense of old heritage and new light-focused design has Capella Sydney feeling elegant retreat from the ity surrounding it.“

When it comes to food and beverage, bars and dining at Capella there are some stunning choices. The grandeur exuding Brasserie 1930, Modern Victorian-era drinking den the McRae Bar, and Aperture is a great place to have afternoon tea in Sydney. Aperture is also there to welcome you to the hotel in a way by leading my attention to the intricate details of the architecture, natural light and the entrancing floral dance of ‘Meadow’ by DRIFT seemingly floating above. My experience of walking into Capella gave me all the right feels.

“When a hotel can do that to you, and make you feel instantly positively different to the moment before you arrived it is incredible and you don’t forget it. I felt this at Capella Sydney.”

How Much Does It Cost To the Stay At Capella Sydney?

After looking at all 2024 availability I have seen a price range of the best rates of $690 in May, July and August to the most expensive nights of $1,400 in March and $1,700 in December. Is it worth the money? Even at that price it seems to be worth it if you are looking to stay at a place that exudes the luxury and sophistication that is on offer at Capella.

WHere Is Capella Sydney?

The Capella Sydney to Circular Quay is only a short walk. The hotel is in a perfect location and one of the best areas to stay on a trip to Sydney. The Opera House, Circular Quay Ferry Terminal, and Royal Botanical Gardens are right at your feet. After studying around the corner from the Capella, at The Hotel School Sydney, and then working at another great 5-star hotel in the area for many years I know the area very well. It is the part of Sydney that I have the most attachment to.

Capella Sydney Reviews and What are Guests Saying About Their Stays?

The Building Design and Interior Design of Capella Sydney Exudes Sophisticated Luxury

To help you decide if the Capella Hotel in Sydney is the best place for you to book a stay in Sydney I have researched all the latest real guest reviews. If I were to create a carefully sculpted summary review based on what I discovered it would be:

"Capella Sydney emerges as an unparalleled oasis of luxury and tranquillity, offering impeccable service, stunning interiors, spacious rooms, and an array of delightful amenities that leave guests enchanted and eager to return for another indulgent experience.".

It is clear that guests love the rooms, the remarkable pool and the sophisticated luxury that Capella provides. Heritage being woven into a new chapter, and new life is something I always look for in a stay. If I am deciding between two hotels that are comparable and tick the same boxes, one a brand new build, and one like Capella, which is a restored historical building, I will pick the building with the stories and the history almost every time. It is worth the price just for the legacy you get the opportunity to experience.

If only…

So what’s the catch? What would possibly make me not book a stay at Capella Sydney? Not having the breathtaking view of some other great hotels in Sydney, more specifically, hotels in Circular Quay and The Rocks.

If only it had Sydney Harbour views. Having countless rooms with an uninterrupted view of the opera house, or harbour bridge would make Capella a favourite to take out my vote for Best Sydney Hotel. Every other aspect of an incredible hotel is taken care of and I find myself forgetting…then remembering the lack of harbour view. I will wrestle with that forever I think.

In summary, the Capella Sydney is a bright star in the Sydney hotel and accommodation landscape. If you can afford to stay here you should. Impeccable property. No view is needed. All things considered, I would book a stay at Capella. For sure.
